Repurposing Clothes for Boys Tutorials

Boys Own Style Clothing Repurposing Tutorial Round Up

Finding just the right fabrics for boy’s clothing can be a challenge. Men’s clothes area great source of fabric (and inspiration). I have a huge pile of old men’s pants and shirts just waiting to be revamped for my son.

Here are some of my favourite tutorials for repurposing clothes for boys from around the blogosphere.

These shorts from a men’s shirt at Saltwater Kids make a great light-weight addition to a boy’s summer wardrobe:

If it’s as cold as it is here at the moment, Dana from Made’s tutorial for a vest from an old jumper (sweater) is just perfect!

This Baby cyclist outfit by Lorene from I am Just Lu was made from an old T-shirt. I have some old cycling jerseys from my husband that I’d love to do something similar with.

Carrie at This Mama Makes Stuff has a great tutorial for Slim Slacks from men’s pants:

Heather from Feather’s Flight made some handsome Baby Shortall from adult T-shirts – a great way to get a more masculine look in baby wear!

You don’t just have to use bigger clothes to repurpose. Check out these Pants into shorts (adding a front pocket with the scraps) from Make It Love It – get a bit more wear out of pants that are too short:

And I have to include my own tutorial for Men’s Jeans to Toddler Pants:

  1. Heather Feather says:

Thanks for the feature, and thanks for this round-up! Now I have lots of things to make for my little boy!

  2. I love re-using my husband’s old things for clothing (and hats!) for my boys. The contrast between mature prints and immature styles can be so cute.

  3. LilleKrokodille says:

Here are some of my projects:
I have made a woolen jumper into pants (see photos here: http://krokodilledesign.blogspot.no/2012/01/ullgenser-blir-barnehagebukse.html).
