2012: A year in review
Another year is coming to a close and it’s time to reflect on the year that was. Looking back at my goals for 2012, I didn’t achieve a lot of what I wanted. It’s a disappointing but life has had other plans for me this year.
My husband changed jobs and we moved interstate. After renting for a short period, we found a great home to buy in a lovely area. So we had two house moves in quick succession – not fun at the best of times, but even more challenging with two small kids! We’re settling into our new life, and enjoying being near (my husband’s) family and making a house into our home.
The kids are happy and healthy, and we’ve found some great activities close to home for them – playgroup, library story time and swimming lessons have helped us make new friends and grow and develop.
The new house has given me a craft space (although non-crafty stuff keeps sneaking in!). I’m still working out the best way to set it up and I feel like I’ve spent more time rearranging than actually making, but I still love my space!
I fell out of my routines (or never got back into some of them since my now 2yo girl was born). Getting a new house in order has been part of the problem, but I also underestimated the energy it takes to be a parent to a 3 year old and 1 year old.
My fitness had also taken a big slide since I had kids. I got caught in the downward spiral of not doing any exercise because I didn’t have enough energy (because I wasn’t doing any exercise). Late in the year, I decided to get back into an exercise program. I was so sore and tired in the beginning (well for about 12 weeks) that I didn’t have the energy to do much else. I’ve stuck with it and am starting to feel my energy levels increase. I just need to carry this through to the new year and see the energy flow to other areas of my life.
2012 has been a year of change and fast growing children. I didn’t achieve as much as I’d hoped, but we’ve had a fun and happy year. I’ve got a lot to be thankful for and a lot to look forward to. So we’ll bring this year to a close with a bottle of bubbles and see what the new year has in store for us (fingers crossed it’s a lot more cooking and crafting, and maybe a better routine for cleaning).
Happy New Year!
I feel the same way. Good things happened, but they weren’t necessarily the things I was expecting. Ah, well!
Happy new year!
And such is life! Hope you have a great 2013!
Happy New Year!!
Happy New Year to you too, Louise!
