We are 10% of the way into 2016, and it’s the first time I’ve sat down to share a blog post. Life has been a whirlwind, and everything has changed.
In mid December, my husband moved to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. That left me to pack up a house, whilst looking after two kids (and visiting family for Christmas), before following him in early January.
I sorted through everything in our house and decided whether to pack, store and ditch. I made trip after trip to the charity stores, dropping off stuff that I didn’t need or want.
We decided to put our furniture in storage, shipping over only our favourite personal items (including my sewing machine and overlocker, of course!). And now I’m setting up a home from scratch.
It’s both refreshing and exhausting. There’s no clutter, but we’re missing items that I took for granted (like bins and whisks and other random bits and pieces). My days are spent searching for the perfect items for building our new home, navigating driving on the wrong side of the road and crazy drivers.
I am thankful that my kids have settled straight into their new school (and I finally have two kids in full time school!). The community is friendly and welcoming.
So we’re embarking on a new adventure in life, and searching for a new routine. Our home is almost settled and it’s time to get cooking, cleaning and crafting again.
What has changed for you in 2016?
