Four weeks of visiting grandparents came to an end this week, and we’re trying to find a routine for our family of four. I’ve managed to find a little bit of time to craft – half an hour or so of crochet in bed when the kids are finally asleep before I pass out from exhaustion. I’m a late starter for the Pearl’s cardigan crochet-along on the Lionbrand blog. It took me two nights to do the test swatch (and I really that slow…) and I’m only managing a row or less a night. If I don’t speed up my crocheting, there’s a good chance this cardigan will become another UFO.
Also on the craft front, I love it when one of these appears in my letterbox:
And I open it to find this:
Yes, I live in Australia, but with the strong Aussie dollar, fabric from th US is so much cheaper. I’d like to make a couple of skirts for myself, have a few kitchen projects in my head, and am growing my stash of cute fabrics for skirts and dresses for bub. Can’t wait until I can find time in my routine for sewing again!
On the cooking front, meals are simple and quick, with as much pre-preparation during nap times as possible – more on this later. To make life simpler (and because the non-stick surface on my old saucepans has bubbled), I’ve invested in a new set of saucepans:
They are Gordon Ramsay for Royal Doulton – 18/10 Stainless Steel with an aluminium core. I’ve only used them to cook pasta, baked beans and to steam vegies so far (not much of a workout), but I’m in love with them already! They look so shiny!
And for cleaning, well let’s not talk about that for the time being!
Also, Corrie at Retromummy has a great giveaway of Sweet Broderie fabric – such pretty colours. I can see so many cute skirts and dresses for my little girl, and maybe even for me. Giveaway closes tonight, so don’t enter because I want to win! She’s just had a bub too, and is so much more in control than me – I guess by Bub #4, you know what you’re doing!
Lastly, here are some uninvited guests who stopped by during the week:
The wildlife that turns up in our backyard never ceases to amaze me! Have a great rest of the weekend!
