Boy’s T-shirt to Hat

Today we have the wonderful Tonya, from The Crafty Mummy – another Aussie crafty blogger. You can find lots of sewing, crochet and general crafty inspiration on her blog, as well as blogging tips. Tonya also sells handmade items in her Made It store. Let’s see what she’s made for her boy:

Hi! I’m Tonya from The Crafty Mummy. I’m so excited to be writing a Boy’s Own Style post for Narelle! Thanks for having me.

I dabble in a little of everything – sewing, quilting, patchwork, beading, crochet – and with kids I often make things for them. But somehow my Little Miss gets a better deal than my Mr Happy, so it is great to be making something for him.

I found a fabulous tutorial over at At Second Street for a hat. I’ve never made a hat before so I was a little nervous but for my first try I’m pretty happy!

It is made from a recycled T-shirt so there is plenty of stretch and the edges are left raw. I should have put stiffening in the bill but I didn’t have any. It would have been worth the run to the shop… oh, well! Next time!

All up it only took about an hour to create. Just the kind of project I love – a quick finish!

Bonus Tip: If you want to take pictures of your hat and your usual model is at school? Try a balloon head! Not quite the right shape but close enough – and kinda cute!

I thought I’d share a couple of other boy posts while I’m here – just click on the pictures to read more:

Thanks Tonya! Looks like a very comfy hat, and that balloon face makes me smile. Come back tomorrow for another inspiring guest post!

Well, that was really cute although I am not really good in sewing. Nice post.
